Rose Marie Geary/Bove, 92, of Newton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

 

Rose Marie was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Bove. She was the daughter of the late Paul L. Geary and Marguerite M. (LeBlanc) Geary and was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Durkan.

 

Rose Marie worked for many years at Eastern Bearings. While she was a hardworking woman, her greatest joys in life were found in the simple things: spending time with family, shopping, listening to music, caring for animals, and enjoying the beautiful flowers in her yard.

 

Rose Marie had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for. She loved bringing family together for gatherings filled with laughter, music, and more food than anyone could possibly eat. Family members fondly remember singing songs together around the piano while Rose Marie made sure there was enough food to feed a stadium full of people.

 

And no one ever had to worry about leaving her home hungry—or even leaving without a pastry. Rose Marie always kept pastries on hand for anyone who might stop by, whether it was family, a friend, or even the Verizon technician who came to fix her phone. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she had a way of making everyone who crossed her doorstep feel special.

 

Rose Marie was one of the most loving and generous women you could ever meet. She had a kind heart, a warm spirit, and an incredible love for her family. She held a particularly special place in her heart for her great-great-nephew, Stelvio, who brought her tremendous joy and whom she adored dearly.

 

Rose Marie is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Bove; sister-in-law, Corrine Bove; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Traversi, along with a large and loving extended family. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, Edward and Alvina; Dottie and Donna; Susan, Ed and Stephen; and Fred and Tom. She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, including Crystal, Nicole, Jim, Caitlin, and Daniel, and by her beloved great-great-nephew, Stelvio, who held a very special place in her heart.

 

Though Rose Marie never had children of her own, she was surrounded by a family who loved her dearly, and she gave that love freely to generations of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

Her memory will live on in the music, laughter, family gatherings, flowers, animals, and countless acts of kindness that were such a beautiful part of her life.

 

Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Rose Marie’s life on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 10am to 12 Noon at Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, in Newton, Massachusetts, followed by a burial service at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St, Newton.
