Roger J. Arsenault, longtime Newton resident, passed on July 30, 2026, almost a year to the day of losing his wife Marjorie (Scordamaglia) last summer.

He is survived by three sons, Wayne and Kevin of Newton and James of Nashua, NH.  He was the son of the late Tilmon and Florence (Pellerin) Arsenault  both born in New Brunswick, Canada.  His deceased siblings are Norma and her husband Walter Doucette, Iroy and his wife Marie, Brother Henry, and Paul. 

 

He has one surviving sister Linda and her husband Carl Logiudice of Melbourne Beach, Florida.  He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew, and great nephews and a great niece. He has 3 surviving grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Arman Ohanyan, Kevin, and Kristen. 

 

Roger served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post 440 and the Knights of Columbus.  Every summer, he enjoyed going to the Trappist Monastery in Rogersville, NB to visit his brother Henry who was a monk.  He also spent many summers vacationing in Cape Cod and many winters in Clearwater, Florida during his retirement years. 

 

He liked going to the gym every day and often played golf. He retired in 1993 after over 35 years of service as a truck driver.  He worked for the United Parcel Service Teamsters Union in Watertown, MA.

Visiting hours in the Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Newton on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4-8pm and again on Wednesday morning at 9:15am before proceeding to Our Lady's Church, 573 Washington St, Newton for a 10:30am Funeral Mass. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
