Joseph A Burke, age 83, a resident of Newton, MA for over 40 years, passed away suddenly Saturday November 1, 2025 surrounded by his family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.

 

Joe was the loving husband of Suzanne M Burke (Mirabito) for over 60 years. He was the proud father of Pamela Suzanne Burke-Perkins (Wilman Wong) of Newton, MA, Sandra Leanne Burke-Taylor (John C. Taylor Jr) of Palm Harbor, FL, David (Esme) of El Salvador and the late son in-law Carl D. Perkins.

He was an adoring, kind and generous grandfather to Stephen Burke Perkins (Shawna Kennedy), Nathaniel Burke Perkins, Douglas Burke Perkins, Jack C. Taylor and great-grandfather to Aubrey Sarah Perkins (3mo).

Joe was born in Milton, MA to William and Mary Burke. He attended Newton High School, Franklin Institute of Boston, Boston College and served 8 years in the National Guard. He worked for Teradyne Inc. Boston for 37 years where he held executive management positions throughout his career. In addition, he volunteered his skills serving on non-profit boards including World Adoption Services Inc., International Adoptions Inc. and My Friend’s House Inc., a nutritional funding and placement center for orphaned children.

His interests included travel, theater, reading, boating, skiing, gardening and when younger a Corvette enthusiast. Joe and Suzanne shared an open house environment at their Lake Winnipesaukee, NH home where they warmly welcomed family and friends. He enjoyed daily walks with his much loved dogs with winters being enjoyed in Ft Myers and Tarpon Springs, FL.

 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date with burial at Newton Cemetery. Donations may be made to one of his favorite charities, MSPCA.org or Animal Rescue League of Boston, MA
