Janet (Rowe) Kiah of Newton Centre, MA passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. 

 

Born May 14, 1937, she was the daughter of William and Margaret (Gayton) Rowe. Janet and husband Dave, also of Newton Centre, shared 64 years of marriage.

Janet was the devoted mother of David, Robert, Christopher, and Timothy Kiah. Grandmother of Evan, Sean, Ryan, Teagan, and Noelle  Kiah, James and Nicholas Grabowski and Brittany Boothe and great-grandmother for Raegan and Nathan Boothe.

Janet was the sister of the late Margaret Dreger and is survived by her brother William Rowe.

Janet was a graduate of Regis College, and received her Masters of Education from Boston College.  She was a home economist for the Worcester County Extension Office and taught home economics in Boston Public schools.

For several years Janet was a volunteer with Prisoner Visitation and Support, a national prison visitation service, taught CCD at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton Centre, and enjoyed delivering books for the Homebound of Newton, an organization of the Newton Free Library.

Janet loved to travel internationally and spent many winters in Fort Lauderdale, FL and summers in Falmouth, MA.

Her unwavering faith and devotion was an inspiration to all.

Visiting hours in the Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Newton on Thursday, April 4, from 4-7pm and again Friday morning at 9am before proceeding to Sacred Heart Church, 1317 Centre St, Newton for a 10:30am Funeral Mass. Burial to follow at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St.
