
On Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, Frances Marie Annese Leone passed away peacefully with friends and family by her side, at 86 years old. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Catherine Annese and wife of Nunzio Leone; Mother of Mark Leone, his wife Margret, Michael Anthony Leone, and Carl Bryan Coron; Grandmother of Thomas Bartlett, his wife Wendy Bartlett, Mark and Sarah Leone; Older sister of Anthony and Maryanne Annese, Joseph and Anna Annese, Patricia and Charles Latanowich, Jonathan and Diane Annese, Patrick and Betty-Lou Annese; Plus so many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Frances Leone was a lifelong resident of Newton, Massachusetts. She worked as the Event Coordinator for the Association of General Contractors in Wellesley, MA, for many years. Throughout her life, Frances touched many people with her smart sense of humor, a work ethic that could rival no other, and her deep and unconditional compassion for those important to her. Anyone who knew Frances knew she put her family above all else. She spent her life committed to the community in Nonantum, which her husband, Nunzio, and she loved so much. She threw countless parties and banquets to support the local Saint Mary of Carmen Society, of which Nunzio was the festival chairman, always extending a hand or a plate to anyone who needed it.
She was also known as “Auntie Frannie”, “Grandma Fran”, and “Tiny Grandma” by her beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. To Frances, thank you for being the backbone of the family, and for everything
Her wake will be held Monday, March 9, from 4-8pm at the Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Newton. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 10 at 12 Noon at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St, Newton. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
