
Eva A. Blanchette passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. She was 92 years of age. She lived the last several years in Newton. Most recently, her last few months she was cared for at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham.
Eva enjoyed a full life with many varied interests and accomplishments. She loved music, politics, sports, cooking, and reading the newspaper. She enjoyed being around family and friends, and hosted many gatherings over the years.
She was a U.S. Army veteran, serving three years mostly in Europe. She was proud of her service and very patriotic.
Eva is survived by her longtime partner's two sons -- George and Gerard VonDohlen. Eva's partner Carmella passed in 2024.
She is also survived by her sister Fern Bouley, her sister-in-law Carol Blanchette, her brother-in-law John Bisset, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her brothers Jim and David and her sisters Jeanette and Madeleine.
A visitation will be held at the Magni Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Newton from 9am to 10am on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The wake will be followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady's Church, 573 Washington St, Newton at 10:30am. Eva will be entombed at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
