Cheryl Ann Landsburg
August 20, 1961 - July 11, 2025
Cheryl Ann “Cher” Landsburg, 63, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, in Newton, Massachusetts. Born on August 20, 1961, in Framingham, Massachusetts, Cheryl was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts and a beloved member of her community.
Cheryl began her education at Mary Finn Elementary School in Southborough and later attended specialized education programs across various schools. She proudly graduated from Hyde Park High School in Boston, marking an important milestone in her life.
Raised in the Catholic faith, Cheryl’s spiritual journey began at St. Matthew’s Church in Southborough. After relocating to Boston with her family, she continued her faith practice at St. Angela’s Church in Mattapan. Her connection to her faith remained a meaningful part of her life.
Cheryl had a love for music that defined much of her personality and brought joy to those around her. She especially cherished the sounds of the old-school Motown era from the 1970s and 1980s. Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, the Jackson Five, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, LL Cool J, and Ice Cube were among her favorites. She had a talent for naming songs and artists just by hearing a few notes.
In addition to music, Cheryl enjoyed playing solitaire and WAR and was rarely without a deck of cards when she was younger. Cheryl also liked doing the word search puzzle. She also found joy in volunteering alongside her sister Lorraine at local road races—an activity that combined her love for community with quality time spent with family. Everyone knows that Cheryl enjoyed getting her Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee whenever she could get someone to take her there or she could have someone deliver it.
Cheryl took part in programs at Vinfen in Newton since 2009. Her friends and staff at Vinfen all expressed that Cheryl would always say that she loved them. Her days were filled with laughter, companionship, and meaningful engagement that enriched both her life and those who knew her.
Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her sisters Lorraine Landsburg of Newton; June Landsburg of Norwood; nephews Jeremiah Odom Jr., Terrence Odom, Thomas Odom, and Michael Landsburg; nieces Jasmine Bueno and Sophia Collins; great-niece Jasmine Odom and great-nephews Zion Odom and Jamari Odom. She will also be deeply missed by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends whose lives she touched with warmth and affection.
She was preceded in death by her brother William Francis Landsburg III (1999), mother Mary Lillian (Cummings) Landsburg (2002), and father William Francis Landsburg Jr. (2013).
Cheryl’s legacy is one of love for her family and friends. She never hesitated to express how much she cared for those close to her. Her vibrant spirit will live on through the memories shared by all who knew her.
May Cheryl's memory bring comfort to those who loved her and peace to all who mourn her passing. A Visitation will be held on July 21, 2025, from 1pm to 3:30pm at the Andrew J. Magni and Son Funeral Home 365 Watertown Street, Newton, with a Prayer Service and Reflections immediately following at 3:30pm. Private family burial at a later time.
