Victoria Theresa Sampson, 81, passed away April 18th, 2020, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was born October 31st, 1938 to Alfredo Frederico and Giovannangela “Jennie” Dellicicchi and was a lifelong resident of Newton. Vicki graduated from Newton North High School in 1957, and in 1959, after a few years working as a secretary, she met and married Lawrence Sampson, who was her companion for 55 years until his death in 2015. She made home the center of her life, and was the loving mother of six, eventually welcoming the role of grandmother to nine children, now ranging in age from 2 to 32. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, line dancing, cooking, and spending summers on Cape Cod with her growing family.
She is survived by her sister Ann Calabro; son Michael Sampson of Newton; daughter Ann Marie and husband Russell O’Dowd of Newton; son Jeffrey Sampson and wife Ann Rotolo of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Kimberly and husband Tim Moroney of Sandwich, MA; son Gregory and Lisa of St Augustine, FL; son Lawrence and Rebecca of Heath, MA; and grandchildren Kimberly, Angela, and Marilyn O’Dowd; Sampson and Sophia Moroney; Cooper and Elizabeth Sampson; and Julia and Benjamin Sampson. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother Alfred Dellicicchi, Jr.
Due to current restrictions, burial at this time will be private. The family is planning a more inclusive memorial service for the summer. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for all their effort and compassion under difficult circumstance during Vickie’s final days.
To our dear mother/sister/grandmother:
We hope you've found everyone you've lost, and are with them looking down on us smiling
