A beautiful soul, Susan Reisler of Newton, MA passed away on November 16, 2024, at the age of 76. Beloved by family, friends and neighbors, Susan was recognized for her superlative talents, compassion, intellect, candor, humor, and strong spirit. 


Having grown up in the Bronx, Susan was a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, City College of New York, and Hunter College, where she earned a master’s degree in education. She became an accomplished editor and technical writer, working at many of Greater Boston’s leading software firms. 
In retirement, Susan pursued her civic-minded passions and contributed to the betterment of society. She was elected to the Newtonville Area Council, where she advocated for local beautification, reasonable development policies, and the preservation of green space and historical architecture. Susan loved reading, movies, gospel singing, and nature, often visiting Walden Pond and enjoying outdoor walks with her husband.

 
Susan was a loving wife to Peter Bruce for 47 years. She was a caring mother to their son David Reisler-Bruce & daughter-in-law Caroline Ogilvy, and a proud grandmother to Evie and Natalie. She is survived by her sisters Jane Carron, Sybil Enfeld and Laura Siegel. Her smile and spirit live on through all who knew her.
