                                                          Margaret Ruth Clermont

A teacher, mother, friend, neighbor, and grandmother, Margaret passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2024. She was 80 years old.

Margaret was born on May 16th 1943 in Schenectady, New York to MaryDell and Joe Richardson. She graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in 1961. After graduating from Boston University with a degree in French, Margaret began a career in teaching at several elementary schools in Topsfield and Milton.

After giving birth to her son Stephen in 1970 and Jonathan in 1976, she transitioned to teaching preschool, starting at the Preschool Experience in Newton Center. In 1989, she became the director of the Watertown Cooperative Nursery School where she enriched the lives of hundreds of young children.

She retired in 2017, but still spent time with young children, especially her granddaughter Lucy in Ipswich. She loved word games, travel, reading, and spending time with her neighbors and friends.

Her family will be holding a memorial service and celebration of her life at the Newton Highlands Congregational Church at noon on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Buddy Dog in Sudbury MA where she adopted many of her animal companions.
