Laura (Battista) Ricci, 89, originally from Newton, MA, passed away after recent severe medical complications, in Framingham, MA on January 18, 2024.
She was born in Newton, MA in 1934 to Thomas and Rosaria Battista and was the second to the last child born into a large Italian family (originally totaling 14 children). Laura graduated from Newton High School before going to work at numerous companies, more recently at Portland Pipe in Boston, MA and Splash in Newton, MA.
Laura loved her family deeply and was proud to be a Battista. She treasured the numerous celebrations, birthdays, and holidays with her large extended family. She delighted in the fact that she was an aunt and a great aunt to so many nieces and nephews. Her biggest blessing in life was her great nephew, Joseph Collins of Salem, NH, whom Laura formed a special bond with. Laura was a very strong, determined and independent woman who survived and overcame many obstacles in her life. May she rest in peace and in spiritual reunion with her beloved family.
Laura was preceded in death by brothers Dando, John, Robert, and Richard Battista and by sisters Marie DeFilippo, Anna Tricomi, Josephine Covino, Viola Baeringer, and Julia Antonellis. She is survived by brother Vincent Battista and sister-in-law Raye Battista, and by 20 loving nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2024 (to be announced).
