Clare M. (Deagle) Leary, longtime resident of Newton, a retired employee of NWH and Medical Records Associates, died Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough after a lengthy illness. She was 91.

Born and raised in Newton, Clare was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Our Lady Help of Christians School and former captain of her cheerleading squad.

Beloved wife for 60 years to the late Francis J. Leary. Devoted mother of two sons, Brian D. Leary of Southboro and his wife Joni, Sean J. Leary of Newton and his wife Gabriella and her daughter, Karen Leary Jollin of Northborough and her husband Aaron.

Clare was the last surviving sibling of four Urban and , Ronald Deagle , Gloria C.(Deagle) Doherty. Loving Nana of eight amazing grandchildren Ryan, Matthew , Cam, Alex, William, Adrienne, Emma, Samantha and one great grandchild Charlie. She enjoyed watching all of them play sports and spending time just being a nana with all of them.

Clare was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to walk the beach and enjoyed her trips to Maine with her Husband Fran.

Clare (Nana) (Mom) cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. When you walked into her home on Crafts St. you usually found her baking or cooking for someone that was sick or just because. Anyone that knew our  mom never left without a cookie in one hand and a “nice sandwich” in the other.

Visiting Hours Monday, Jan 2 from 2-5 pm in the funeral home. Funeral Mass Tuesday at 12 Noon in Our Lady's Church, 573 Washington St, Newton. Burial at Newton Cemetery .
