Carol Ann Proia, lifetime Newton resident, age 78, passed unexpectedly on May 19, 2023.

Daughter of the late Armando and Josephine (Bianchi) Proia. And sister of the late Mary Lou Tamburrini and Joseph A. Proia.

​

She is survived by her fiance of 28 years, Arthur K. Flanagan and by two nephews: Bruno J. Tamburrini Jr. and wife Kris of Forestdale (Sandwich) and Vincent Tamburrini and wife Mary of Bourne. She also leaves countless friends from her years of teaching and beyond.

​

Carol was a dedicated and devoted second grade teacher in Boston. She loved being a teacher as she knew from a young age that she wanted to help others. Boston was where she felt she could make a difference with all types of children. 

​

Carol also had a passion for cooking and was an excellent chef. She also enjoyed going to casinos and above all, loved "beyond words" her nephews Bruno and Vincent and cousins Donald and Tina, as well as other friends and relatives. Carol will be sorely missed by the numerous lives she touched.

Visiting hours in the funeral home on Wed, May 24 from 4-8pm and again on Thursday morning at 9:15AM before proceeding to Our Lady’s Church, 573 Washington St, Newton for a 10:30AM Funeral Mass. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Salem.
