With deep love and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bing J. (BJ) Wang. A cherished husband and father, gifted healer and beloved friend to many, he departed this life peacefully on May 12, 2025 at the age of 70.
BJ was born in Daegu, South Korea in December 1954, the son of Chun Shan Wang (a Chinese herbalist) and Pi Hui Ying Wang, both originally from Shandong, China. He was raised learning the value of education and setting goals. He spoke both Chinese and Korean growing up. After graduating high school, he travelled to Japan, where he strived to learn Japanese and find work. BJ attended the prestigious Waseda University in Shinjuku, Japan, where he graduated with a degree in International Commerce. His next goal was to come to the US. Here he learned his fourth language, English.
After moving to Boston in 1988 with his wife Janice and son Brian, BJ worked as a skillful sushi chef with techniques he learned in Japan. They welcomed the birth of their daughter Leah in 1990 and the next year his father came to join him and together they opened E Shan Tang Herbs, practicing pulse diagnosis and prescribing and preparing custom-made medicinal herbal teas. For over 30 years, people came to E Shan Tang from near and far to benefit from BJ’s gift of holistic healing.
BJ will always be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues as wise, compassionate, and gentle with a calming influence. He will be greatly missed.
His funeral services will be private.
