Alan F. Vachon, age 70, lifelong resident of Newton, peacefully passed away May 17, 2020 surrounded by his wife and daughter after a short battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of 42 years to Carmella Vachon (Leone). Devoted father of Michelle Murphy (Vachon) and her husband Scott of Maynard.


Alan is survived by three grandchildren, Rylee, Makenzie and Mason whom are the light of his life and his pride and joy. Dear brother of Judith M. Donovan (Vachon) of Newton. Alan was preceded in death by his father Alfred; his mother Agnes (LaVoie); and his sister Carol O’Brien (Vachon). And he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.


Alan went to Newton schools then spent all of his working years as a machinist. Machinist was his profession but his skills were unlimited. He enjoyed playing cribbage and gardening with his wife. He was a gentle soul who would do anything for anybody. Above all, his love for his family was overwhelmingly evident.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation on Thursday, May 21 from 4-7pm in the Andrew J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown Street, Newton. The wake service will follow State Coronavirus regulations on gatherings. So only 10 people will be allowed into the funeral home at a time. Burial will be private.
